Updated Information Regarding Pine Ridge Indian Reservation

Because of the many generous donations to Gifts from the Heart in December, we sent a large shipment of personal care supplies to Re-Member, our mission partner in South Dakota.

Items such as shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, diapers, baby wipes, razors, combs, and brushes will be distributed to the Oglala Lakota people living at the Pine Ridge Reservation. These supplies are in great demand since the reservation is on lockdown due to the COVID virus and cannot accept the normal contributions of Re-Member’s volunteers.

Our commitment to serve the Oglala Lakota people continues despite the cancellation of our summer mission serve teams due to the current Pandemic.  Good Shepherd partnered with the Re-Member staff by providing $1,750 in Menard’s gift cards for lumber (also from Gifts from the Heart donations)  and $2,500 in material costs to complete 50 bunk and single beds, ten outhouses, and four sets of decks/steps for the Oglala Lakota people.

There are still 90 people waiting on Re-Member’s request list for assistance. If you are interested in contributing to lumber costs to complete these projects, you can donate here. DONATE FOR MATERIAL COST

The wisdom of the elders tells us, “You’ve never really lived until you’ve done something for someone who can never repay you.” Thanks to the congregation for their generosity. Another example of small ways to make a BIG impact in the lives of others!
