The Gift of Sabbath

New! Sermon Series | August 14 – September 4, 2022

Nowadays the concept of the Sabbath seems abstract and outdated. We live our lives as fast-paced on Sundays as we do on Wednesdays. Especially in the western suburbs, we buy into this perspective that busyness is indicative of fulfillment or purpose. Were you caught off guard by the forced slowdown of 2020?

Join us for a 4-week series where we will walk through Hebrews 3:1-4:11, explaining God’s gift to us in the Sabbath.

This sermon series was written by Elisabeth Lectka. Elisabeth is a seminary student at Northern Seminary and is on Staff as our Family Life Ministry Director. It is her hope that in studying this section of Hebrews, our community can begin to hold a deeper appreciation for the gift of the Sabbath and adventure into its practice together as a liberated people of God.

As our world is shifting back into previous rhythms, she believes we have a unique opportunity to reorient our lives in a new way. The practice of the Sabbath may be the very practice we need in light of the shifting of times in our world.
