First Communion Recap

By Elisabeth Lectka, Family Life Ministry Director

On November 6, Good Shepherd’s building was overflowing as we celebrated the first communion of 47 young people in our congregation! On the prior Wednesday and Saturday, our first communicants and their families gathered together to learn about the significance of communion in the big story of God and in our walk with Christ.

Families made unleavened bread together, explored the connection between Passover and The First Communion, and reflected on the presence of sin in their lives. We rejoiced that every time we take communion, Jesus shows up! And we embrace his love and forgiveness as we partake in the body and blood of Christ. It was truly a joy to be together in services as our first communicants received communion with wonder, reverence, and excitement.

Praise be to our God who wraps us close in his great story of love every time we come together in community at the Lord’s Table!
