Children’s Ministry Update

To Our Children’s Ministry Families,

It’s hard to believe that summer, and all that comes with it, is just around the corner: sports, vacations, weekend getaways, friends visiting from out of town, and so much more! One of the many joys of being around kids is that we roll from one exciting adventure to the next, and this upcoming season will be no different!

In addition to weekly ministry and eagerly planning VBS, the Children’s Ministry team has been busy collaborating on ideas to improve and “reinvent” our Sunday morning programming, and I am so excited to let you know that these changes are coming soon!

I’m not revealing everything yet; you’ll have to wait for some of the details, but what I can tell you is that you aren’t going to want to miss what’s coming! Beginning mid-summer, we will be streamlining Sunday morning ministry to accommodate more kids with a simpler program. We will be switching to a new curriculum, incorporating new and exciting aspects to the agenda, and meeting together in a different space. I told you, you won’t want to miss this!

In order to make this transition a success, Children’s Ministry staff and volunteer teams need time to dream, organize, plan, and prep for what’s to come. During the month of June, Good Shepherd will be encouraging families to worship together outside of Children’s Ministry. We will not be executing our typical programming between June 1 and June 30.

Please find comfort in knowing that kids are welcome in both the Sanctuary and Worship Center! Additionally, we will provide an alternative option for families who need a safe, fun, and encouraging space for their kids while they worship. With the help of our Student Ministry team, the gym will be available for kids 3 years old through 5th grade (current Sparks ages) for worship music, a teaching video, and organized games and activities. The nursery for ages 0-36 months and the Disability Ministry will continue to run as scheduled during both service times. For more information regarding our Disability Ministry during the month of June, please follow this link for additional communication from our Disability Minister, Autumn Wouk.

This is also a time for you to consider if God is calling you into Children’s Ministry leadership! Have you felt a nudge, heard a whisper, or are just curious as to how much fun it really is to engage with Sparks kids? Now is your chance to get involved with a fresh start! Catch me on a Sunday or email me (; but please reach out!

As I mentioned earlier, there are more details to come. Please know that you can reach out with any questions you might think of over the next couple of weeks.

Families, this is just the beginning of something exciting! Let’s move forward in faith that God is doing big things in Children’s Ministry at Good Shepherd!

Blessings to all~
