Senior Pastor Mark Carlsson has been approved by majority vote at the July 24, 2019 Special Congregational Meeting at Good Shepherd!

With joy and anticipation for the next season of leadership for our church family, the Call Team is excited to introduce Senior Pastor Candidate Mark Carlsson, who was approved unanimously in June by Good Shepherd’s Church Council.

See the video covering the Congregational meeting here!

Our Call Team literally searched the globe for our next leader! Born to a Swedish father, Mark was raised speaking English and Swedish, and has lived in California, Illinois, Ohio and Sweden. Pastor Mark has 25 years of ministry experience, including Senior Pastor of Bethlehem Church in the heart of Stockholm, Sweden. This congregation is part of the Swedish Evangelical Mission, an independent movement within the Church of Sweden, which is equivalent to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

After 16 fruitful years in Sweden, Mark and his wife Christie, and their sons Axel and David, sense God’s call to return to the Chicagoland area for a new season of ministry. If approved by the congregation, Pastor Mark and his family will be relocating to Naperville!

Following the Meet and Greet event, Church Council will conduct the ELCA-required Special Congregational Meeting and Member Vote to formally call Pastor Mark to Good Shepherd. We’re excited to see you at this important event!
