Update: November 20, 2020

Based on the best public health information and mitigation guidelines, and this week’s strong recommendation by the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the ELCA, we feel it is in the best interest of our congregation and the community at large to minimize in-person ministry activities.

Together with Council and the Lead Team, the following has been decided, effective immediately:

  1. The building at 1310 Shepherd Drive will not be open for in-person worship until further notice. Online-only live-stream services will continue.
  2. All on-site ministries, with the exception of Good Shepherd Preschool, must transition to an online-only format. Celebrations of life are still being evaluated (baptisms, weddings, funerals).

Please join us on Sundays for our livestreamed servicesWe’re all in this together!

We continue to pray for you Church family! The Re-opening team meets weekly and includes members of staff, council and the congregation. We are carefully putting processes in place, making the health and safety of our guests the top priority.

GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES. We are using public health guidance, metrics, and recommendations to lead our Re-opening discussions and to advise our teams to execute plans.

FLEXIBILITY. Please be advised that as the COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation. Dates and plans may have to change according to government guidelines or situations in our community.

MINISTRIES. Even though the building may reopen, please note that not all ministries will resume at the same time. The Cornerstone Café will not be open until further notice.

COMMUNICATIONS. We are committed to keeping the congregation informed, so please make sure to check our website for updates. We will post updates regarding our plan as they become available.

A hearty thank you to the reopening team for all their work to ensure a safe and orderly gradual reopening of our building, and to you all for your faithful service and leadership!

Though we are physically apart, God is using this time to challenge, shape and connect us in new ways, as well as to reach even more people with the Gospel. Thank you for your partnership and prayers as we adjust to the new normal.
